Chinese social networks were quickly flooded with disturbing videos and photographs of the mystery occurrence, with individuals speculating their origin. Several witnesses described the two-minute occurrence as extremely brilliant white beams emanating from the clouds and moving slowly across the sky. (unidentified flying object above China)
An editor of a military magazine with the user name "Weaponmagazine-Xiaoning" stated that the photographs might represent a test of the top-secret hypersonic aircraft DF-ZF, formerly identified as WU-14 by the Pentagon. Yet, the Chinese government has not provided an official explanation for the bizarre occurrence.
The UFO expert, Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigation Manual, told MailOnline that the images appeared to show a rocket engine trace, similar to the phenomenon observed on December 22, 2017 in Los Angeles, when a mysterious Bright object was seen by thousands of people flying, just as many began their journey home to celebrate Christmas. In this occasion, the official explanation was that the enigmatic object was a satellite belonging to Elon Musk's SpaceX corporation.
"In both instances, the photographs were taken at night, when the exhaust plumes of the rockets are highly spectacular and may be mistaken for an alien spacecraft," Watson explained. "Fortunately, they are evidence of extraordinary extraterrestrial happenings generated on Earth, and not the product of the UFO legend's gray men with large eyes."
However, this argument has not persuaded everyone since, as stated earlier, the Chinese government has not provided an official explanation. In addition, the odd light had no resemblance to the wake produced by prior rocket launches.
